Research In Motion's new BlackBerry Curve 8530 aims at consumers instead of business users, with an advanced media player for music and video, and multimedia capabilities, in addition to standard-issue features such as access to BlackBerry App World.
The BlackBerry Curve 8530 is RIM's attempt at a more media-centric smartphone, with mechanical controls for music integrated into the form-factor.
The BlackBerry Curve 8530 also comes with built-in WiFi (802.11 b/g) and GPS with support for location-based applications.

I had a chance to test out Sony Ericsson's new Xperia X10 (codenamed "Rachael") for a few minutes at last night's Pepcom in NYC.
The Xperia X10 is a slim, sleek slab with an expansive 4-inch capacitive touch screen with 854-by-480-pixel resolution.
Unlike its predecessor, the Xperia X1 , the X10 drops the keyboard and also switches from Windows Mobile to Android.

More than 500 budding film-makers from across the Middle East have entered two-minute movie clips of everyday life in contest being run as part of the Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF) 2009.
The pan-Arab competition, MBC's 'Movies in Motion', has drawn 550 entries from the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt and Morocco.
DIFF Marketing and Sponsorship Director Mahsa Motamedi said the event had provided a platform that encouraged young movie enthusiasts in the region to take the next step forward.

China Mobile ( CHL - Analyst Report ), the world's largest wireless carrier by subscriber, has revealed its plan to commence the trial run of its 4G network during World Expo 2010 to be held in Shanghai from May 1 to Oct 31, 2010.
The company's 4G service is based on the TD-LTE (Time Division Duplex Long Term Evolution) mobile broadband technology.
